You have to renew your account every winter term. (from 1. Nov.)

Please note that you have to renew your account every winter term. The renewal of an user account is possible only if you still are matriculated at the University of Bonn in computer science or you are studying computer science as a minor study. In the latter case you need the signature of the lecturer on the request form.

The request can be placed online or locally.

A request can be placed online from every computer within the computer science institute. From outside you can register either by VPN or over our login server zeus.informatik.uni-bonn.de. However, this is only possible if your user account is still valid.

Invoke the registration program by calling the command: ssh account@userserver.informatik.uni-bonn.de from zeus.

The request will be sent to you as a PDF file by email. Print the form, sign it and send it either by mail to the address specified in the form, or throw it into the account request box at the position described below, which is labelled “Benutzeranträge”.

The request can be placed - like the initial application - locally in the b-IT entrance hall, Endenicher Allee 19a at the account terminals. Sign the printed form and throw it into our post box in the lecture hall building, Endenicher Allee 19c.

The room will usually be open on weekdays between 7am and 10pm.

This can not be done when your user account is locked.

For the renewal of your user account you need only your

• login name and your password
• matriculation number

Additionally for students with computer science as a minor

• Title of the lecture and the lecturer

Please update your contact information on this occasion.

Please consider the following references to error messages:

• The program does not recognize your matriculation number, although you are registered in the subject Computer Science.
  This happens, if you registered yourself after the beginning of the term. Contact us personally with your valid student documents of identification.
• The program finds already a request with your matriculation number, although you placed no application for extension before.
  This happens, if your user account is locked and is to be removed. Contact us personally with your valid student document of identification.
• If the signed form is not given to us within 4 weeks, the request is not considered as posed.

• The phase of renewal usually starts on the 1st of November
• You only need to renew your account once every two terms, in the winter term.

An user account becomes automatically locked, i.e unusable,

• if your user account was not extended until 30.11., or
• if you are no longer matriculated in computer science.

With the blockage of the user account, the VPN account is locked too. === Removal of the user account === A user account is finally removed including all associated accounts (email, VPN),

• if your user account was not extended until 31.1., or
• if you are no longer matriculated in computer science.

You can copy your data until the end of the current term onto an USB disk if need be. Please contact us personally with your identity card and supply an USB disk.
