-===== 2018-09-14Maintenance WiFi Networks =====+===== 2019-12-17Attendance Times during the Holidays =====
 +
 +During the holidays (starting with the 2019-12-23  up until 2020-01-03) we will not be available to you personally at our offices.

-Due to the continued problems with our core router, we are trying to take some load away from it by changing the routing configuration of our WiFi Networks to other componentsBecause of that you can expect some outages of the wifi throughout the day.+If there is some kind of technical emergency during this time, please send an email to gsg@informatik.uni-bonn.de.

-===== 2018-09-05: Status of the core network routing problem =====+===== 2019-06-25Update Status Imagine Premium/Microsoft Azure Dev Tools =====

-We just experienced another network outage, which was intended this time to collect data for the problem analysis of the hardware vendorWe continue to work on a solution, utilizing our support contractor and the hardware vendor.+By now a registration using the university email address is possibleMore information available on [[en:microsoftimagine|this page]].

-By now we punched down the possible suspects to the IPv6 core of the router, which now remains disabled to ensure a stable IPv4 operation.+----
 +===== 2019-06-25: Status Imagine Premium/Microsoft Azure Dev Tools =====

-We thank you all four your continuous patience and support.+Since Microsoft changed the name of the program from "Imagine Premium" to "Azure Dev Tools for Teaching", they changed the requirements for registration to the program portal, too. As for now, an institute email address is required for registration. As newer students are not longer provided with one of these, only older students with an old address are able to register. Microsoft is working on a solution to this problem, but as for now, there is no workaround. So we cannot provide you with access to the program at the time-being.

 +====== 2019-06-24: Loss of central Storage at B-IT ======

-===== 2018-09-03: Further problems with our central network routing components =====+Last Friday around noon we experienced a total loss of several central components of our userstorage for UNIX (NFS) and Windows (SMB). Sadly we had to realize that we lost a rather important large storage component completely, so we had to recover the affected storage areas from our backup to alternative server systems. Because of that, a certain loss of data in the confines of the regular backup schedule (usually daily in the night) has to be expected.

-As the recent proceedings in patching up our central routers were not successful, we are continuing to experience massive problems with our core network, resulting in massive performance issues and complete blackouts of network connectivity. This problem is of a non-trivial naturewe are continuing to investigate the issue, utilizing our support partners and the hardware vendor itself.+The data rescue operation is completed by nowall services were restored again.

-At the moment we seem to have pinned down the problem to the IPv6 core of the router. To stabilize the situation as good as possible, we have disabled IPv6 routing for the time being, hoping to reactivate it after resolving the problem.+----
 +===== 2019-05-29: New Host Keys login.bit =====

-Please continue to be patient and remember that the whole setup in this building is completely new, some problems simply were to be expected.+The SSH Login Server of the b-it was reinstalled and received new host keys. If you want to verifyplease refer to the following fingerprints:

We will have completed the conversion to the new CA within the next few days, so you can also use the new certificate within eduroam-cs, as stated in the HRZ newsletter. We will announce this accordingly here.

-Due to maintenance on the primary WiFi infrastructure, the WiFi networks of C.S. Dept. and B-IT will be partially down during the morning.+
