The joined IT-Administration of the Institute for Computer Science and the B-IT (GSG) was founded to consolidate the IT infrastructures of both institutions for the planned move to the new shared building on the new Campus Poppelsdorf. Its purpose is to make sure that both institutions will be able to work successfully in the same IT environment at the new building.

As the planned relocation(s) were not possible to the present day, the pre-existing locational separation is still existing, but the unification of the IT staff was carried out anyway.

Because of that, the GSG is the proper contact for all central IT related matters for the locations at Dahlmannstr. 2 (B-IT), Römerstr. 164 (AVZ III) and Friedrich-Ebert-Allee 144 (LBH). As soon as the new building is available, the GSG will create a new, shared Infrastructure for both institutions at the new location, just as originally planned.
