Digital Addressable Lighting Interface

DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is an intelligent lighting system that offers variety of control options. With corresponding remote control, you can calibrate or setup the light sensors to suit your needs. DALI supports a total of 10 profiles that are designed to work in different environments. First 9 profiles are predefined and last profile is customisable . Therefore, it is highly recommended to choose one profile (later in this wiki, these profiles will be called modes) that works best for you. If you already have one, please look at the “how to” section of this wiki for instructions on setting it up.

Predefined Profiles

Mode 1

Mode 1 is designed for a single office.

The light is turned on as soon as a person is detected by the sensor. If the room is detected as empty, a timer of 10 minutes is started. If the room is still empty at the end of this timer, the light is turned off.

Mode 1 specific properties

  • Light on the window and corridor side can be regulated depending on daylight.
  • Automatic turning on of light can be configured on window side depending on daylight.

Mode 2

Mode 2 is designed for larger office.

The light is turned on as soon as a person is detected by the sensor. If the room is detected as empty, a timer of 10 minutes is started. If the room is still empty at the end of this timer, a second timer of 120 minutes is started. During this timer the lighting is dimmed. If there is no person in the room by the end of second timer, the light is turned off.

Mode 2 specific properties:

  • Light on the window and corridor side can be regulated depending on daylight.
  • Automatic turning on of light can be configured on window side depending on daylight.

Mode 3

Mode 3 is designed for classrooms.

You have to turn on the lighting in this mode manually with a switch. If the room is detected as empty, a timer of 10 minutes is started. If the room is still empty at the end of this timer, light is turned off.

Mode 3 specific properties

  • Light intensity adjustment depending on daylight.

Mode 4

If you don't want any movement sensor or dimming of light, turn on this mode for the “classic” lighting system.

Mode 4 is predefined as “comfortmode” and designed for single office.

In this mode, light is turned on or off via switch. Movement sensor is disabled.

Mode 4 specific properties

  • Light intensity adjustment depending on daylight.
  • Automatic light powering on window-side.

Mode 5

Mode 5 is designed for larger office (comfort mode)

In diesem Modus wird die Beleuchtung per Schalter ein und ausgeschaltet. Der Bewegungsensor ist vollständig ausgeschaltet.

Mode 5 specific properties

  • Light intensity adjustment depending on daylight.
  • Automatic light powering on window-side.

Mode 6

Potential use environment: corridors The light is turned on as soon as a person is detected by the sensor. If the room is detected as empty, a timer of 10 minutes is started. If the room is still empty at the end of this timer, a second timer of 60 minutes is started. During this timer the lighting is dimmed. If there is no person in the room by the end of second timer, the light is turned off.

Mode 7

Potential use environment: Toilets

The light is turned on as soon as a person is detected by the sensor. If the room is detected as empty, a timer of 15 minutes is started. During this timer the lighting is dimmed. If there is no person in the room by the end of the timer, the light is turned off.

Mode 7 specific properties

  • Individual “toilet-side” or “sink-side” configuration is supported.

Mode 8

Mode 8 is designed for conference halls. The light is turned on manually via switch. If the room is detected as empty, a timer of 10 minutes is started. If the room is still empty at the end of this timer, the light is turned off.

Mode 9

Mode 9 is designed for a large office with constant lighting.

Lighting is turned on, as soon as a person is detected and will stay on until it is turned off manually.

Mode 10

User defined mode. Locked.

Channels and configuration

LRM 2070

  • DALI-Channel 1 (DA-Channel) ⇒ Automatically configured as window-side.
  • DALI-Channel 2 (X-Channel) ⇒ Automatically configured as corridor-side.

LRM2080

Only one DALI-Channel. Configuration needs to be done manually. X-Channel in this model can be coupled with X-Channel of other devices with same model.

LRM2090

X-Channel is responsible for communication with DALI-Gateway unlike in other models.

DALI-Groups

  • 1/W Window
  • 2/C Corridor
  • 3 architectural lighting (no automatic dimming, e.g. for room with projectors)
  • 4 manual control , only with node LCU2070 , independent of chosen group.

How To

The steps below will only work with a remote control corresponding to the DALI-device.

Changing modes

  • Press “Mode” button
  • Choose a mode with buttons (1-9) [Modes are explained above]

Caution! Intensity calibration should be done in a dark room only.

  • press “up” button (an arrow pointing up in most remotes) to increase intensity
  • press “down” button (an arrow pointing down in most remotes) to decrease intensity
  • save the settings with “save”

Assignment of DALI-Group

You can assign each light channel to a certain group. For example, light channel 1 can be assigned as “window-side” and 2 as “corridor-side”. Look on “DALI-Groups” section for more information about individual groups.

  • Press the blue “DALI” button
